Oshimai

"Oshimai" is an eclectic anthology manga comprising a diverse collection of short, self-contained stories that span multiple genres, ranging from lighthearted romantic comedy and slice-of-life to fantasy and surreal humor. The first volume introduces readers to a wide array of scenarios, including a summer seaside tale with Marie, etiquette lessons at a tonkatsu restaurant, the daily life of a middle school boy, and the misadventures of characters like Moriko the succubus, negotiator Masaomi Mashike, and the lightly dressed high school tutor. Other vignettes explore themes such as secret gifts, mysterious piercings, and playful interactions between younger boys and older girls. The second volume continues this unpredictable format with equally imaginative tales. Stories range from the typical morning routine of a battle-manga couple and the genius planning of Kyouko to Matsuzaki's relentless Valentine's Day hunting. Characters navigate supernatural encounters like sleep paralysis techniques, alcohol-induced complications, and remote-controlled mysteries. Several chapters revisit established dynamics, including Okayama's secrets and hidden feelings, while others playfully subvert popular tropes, such as a story wishing for reincarnation into a specific environment rather than another world entirely. Concluding with a peek into the author's personal diary, the series delivers a consistently surprising and varied reading experience across its two volumes.
