Outdoors

Outdoors is a Manga originally published in Japanese in 2009. Crafted by the avant-garde manga artist Yokoyama Yuichi, this work stands as a visually striking and sonically immersive experience from the acclaimed cult creator behind New Engineering, Travel, and Iceland. The narrative invites readers on an extraordinary journey into the great unknown, blending surreal imagery with a futuristic atmosphere. The story unfolds around high-speed camera drones that buzz through the air, startling local wildlife and disrupting both animals and birds in their path. Amidst this chaotic backdrop, characters find refuge inside a futuristic recreational vehicle, where the steady rhythm of dripping water and the heavy bass of a Zen boombox create a hypnotic, dreamlike environment. As the music reverberates through the confined space, the boundaries of reality begin to blur, leaving the occupants feeling as though they are effortlessly floating away from the world they once knew. Through its unconventional storytelling and bold artistic vision, Outdoors delivers a sensory feast that perfectly captures Yokoyama’s signature style. It is a wild, visually captivating exploration of nature, technology, and escapism, offering readers a truly unique adventure unlike anything else in the medium.
