Jibun wo SSS-kyuu da to Omoi Kondeiru C-kyuu Majutsu Gakusei

“The strongest dragon in the world? Sigh, I suppose it is my turn to step up.” With a dramatic sigh and an inflated ego, one second-year student fully embraces his severe case of chuunibyou—delusions of grandeur—and charges headlong into danger. There is a familiar fantasy trope where overwhelmingly powerful beings who wish for a quiet life or must hide their abilities secretly intervene to save others from catastrophic threats. But what happens when the protagonist playing that role possesses absolutely no hidden strength whatsoever? This story follows a C-rank magic student who has completely convinced himself that he is an SSS-rank powerhouse masquerading as a weakling. When elite students bully the vulnerable, when assassins relentlessly pursue a princess, and when the world’s mightiest dragon descends upon the academy, he steps forward without hesitation. He acts exactly like a supreme master concealing his true capabilities, yet his actual magical power barely scrapes by at C-rank. In every dire situation, this hopelessly deluded young man throws himself into the fray, genuinely believing he harbors unfathomable strength. It is the tale of a thoroughly ordinary magic student living out his grandiose illusion, performing the role of a secret savior while possessing nothing more than average talent and boundless confidence.
