The Horror of Souichi: Coffin

This chilling manga collection continues the macabre misadventures of Souichi Tsujii, a pale and sinister boy obsessed with curses, nails, and all things morbid. Through four interconnected tales, Souichi unleashes his twisted imagination upon his family and classmates, leaving a trail of psychological torment and supernatural dread in his wake. His bizarre antics blur the line between childish mischief and genuine malevolence, creating an atmosphere of constant unease. In "Souichi's Selfish Curse," the young troublemaker forces his hexes upon those around him without provocation, while "The Room with Four Walls" traps characters in a claustrophobic nightmare born from his dark whims. The titular story, "Coffin," delves into Souichi's fascination with death as he incorporates a casket into his terrifying schemes. Finally, "Rumor" explores how whispered fears spread like wildfire when Souichi manipulates local gossip to his advantage. Together, these stories showcase Junji Ito's masterful ability to blend pitch-black comedy with creeping horror, anchored by one of manga's most unsettling protagonists.
