Figuisch

Figuisch offers a warm and affectionate glimpse into the unconventional passions of a group of high school girls. The narrator reflects on the surprising hobbies of her female classmates, beginning with a friend who casually reveals her dedication to building plastic models. Another classmate harbors an intense fascination with military uniforms, taking her interest so far as to acquire an authentic German officer’s uniform from the Second World War. These unique pursuits challenge the typical expectations of teenage life, painting a portrait of young women deeply committed to their individual interests. The story continues to celebrate these eccentricities through another classmate named Hiromi, who is discovered handling a giant larva without hesitation. She confidently declares her ambition to become a professional entomologist when she grows up, further highlighting the diverse and unapologetic nature of the girls in the narrator's circle. Rather than focusing on dramatic conflict, the narrative thrives on the charm of everyday discoveries and the joy of learning what makes each person unique. Through these brief but vivid encounters, the narrator expresses a profound and genuine admiration for her friends. Her heartfelt message serves as both a tribute to their distinct personalities and a caring reminder for them to stay healthy and avoid catching a cold. Ultimately, Figuisch stands as a tender celebration of friendship, individuality, and the unexpected passions that define youth.
