Gouman na Junai

Gouman na Junai is a collection of six distinct romantic stories exploring the complexities of unrequited feelings, unexpected encounters, and hidden emotions. In one tale, the reserved and hardworking Hino is caught off guard when his colleague Oikawa abruptly asks if he is gay during an elevator ride, sparking panic and avoidance that only draws them closer together. Another follows Kikaki, an unemployed professional chef who begins caring for his mysteriously collapsing neighbor, Aizawa, by cooking for him daily—until a stranger’s sudden appearance shatters their budding bond and exposes a dark secret. Elsewhere, Toshiya silently yearns for Watase, whose constant devotion to his unlucky-in-love childhood friend, Kataoka, leaves Toshiya feeling hopelessly inadequate. The remaining narratives delve into equally poignant dilemmas. Katsumi grows close to Odagiri, a peculiar café regular, but is haunted by the lingering shadow of a man named Hiroya whom he may merely be replacing. Heartbroken after his three-year unrequited love marries someone else, Kiyokawa finds himself overwhelmed when his coworker Oonishi unexpectedly offers physical comfort during his emotional crisis. Finally, Kaidoh, the seemingly carefree son of a company president, masks his deep affection for his nagging secretary, Kagiwara, by seeking hollow substitutes in other men, questioning whether anyone could ever truly fill the void left by the one he genuinely loves.
