Over the Sky

Mio is a high school student who habitually avoids responsibility and struggles to commit fully to anything. She spends her afternoons in Ikebukuro with her childhood friend Arata and her best friend Madoka, until Madoka confesses that she has fallen in love with Arata. The revelation forces Mio to confront her own hidden feelings for him. Terrified of destroying their close-knit dynamic, she lies and offers to help Madoka instead. Her subsequent attempts to distance herself from Arata lead to a bitter argument, prompting Mio to realize she is merely running away. Determined to reconcile, she rushes to meet him in the pouring rain but is struck by a car. She awakens in a surreal realm where trains glide across water alongside swimming whales. Upon exiting the station, she finds herself back in a subtly altered version of Ikebukuro. A self-proclaimed guide named GiMON explains she has reached the World Border and urges her to open a door leading anywhere she desires. However, a mysterious girl named Kiku intervenes, revealing that the true exit is the Forgotten Things Counter, which requires Mio to surrender a treasured lost memory and a fierce desire to return home. When they reach the counter, Mio cannot identify her precious memory, causing both companions to vanish. Stranded alone in an empty city now overflowing with memories, she must search for the one thing she truly treasures.
