Rebecca

Set in a rural Maine town at the close of the nineteenth century, Rebecca is a cheerful and spirited ten-year-old girl who serves as the second of seven children in her family. Her vibrant world is abruptly upended when her father passes away, plunging the household into sudden poverty. With few options remaining, Rebecca is reluctantly sent away from home to live under the roof of her two aunts, Miranda and Jane, forcing her to navigate an unfamiliar environment far removed from the lively household she once knew. Life with her aunts quickly reveals a stark contrast in temperaments that shapes Rebecca’s daily struggles. She forms a deep and affectionate bond with her gentle Aunt Jane, whose kindness offers a much-needed source of comfort during this difficult transition. However, Aunt Miranda proves to be a strict and constantly nagging presence, creating tension within the household and testing the young girl's resilient spirit as she tries to adapt to her new reality. The film was originally scheduled for a screening event on March 14, but the presentation was ultimately cancelled due to concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19.
