Zetsubou Shouraku

In a quiet town within an unspecified prefecture, high school student Misawa lives a monotonous, unchanging life. His routine consists of attending classes and spending his free time after school lingering at the local shopping mall. He naively believes these ordinary days will continue forever, but that fragile normalcy shatters when his older sister is brutally attacked and hospitalized. Simultaneously, Tsuruta, a female high school student who frequently hunts in the wilderness with her grandfather, encounters unsettling anomalies hidden deep within the mountains. These disturbing incidents mark the initial tremors of an encroaching nightmare. As the terror escalates, Misawa, Tsuruta, and numerous others find themselves thrust into an unimaginable struggle for survival against the worst kind of monster, where the ultimate fate for those who fail to kill is to be defiled.
