Suito no Reijin

During the terrifying era of the Inquisition, Jessica lives a life confined to the shadows. Although she is the daughter of a duke’s physician and a remarkably gifted healer in her own right, society demands that she conceal her face. A birthmark beneath her left eye has led the fearful populace to brand her as a demonic spawn, forcing her into isolation under the oppressive watch of both the world and her father. Her secluded existence shifts when Francis Bardolph, the future Earl of Thornbury, seeks her out to treat an old wound. Through his presence, Francis begins to mend not only his physical scars but also Jessica’s deep-seated dread of the outside world. However, their fragile connection is threatened by a jealous courtesan determined to secure a more advantageous future for herself. As tensions rise, Jessica faces a pivotal choice: remain hidden from a cruel society or finally step into the light and dance alongside Francis at the carnival.
