How to Keep a Human

In a realm inhabited entirely by demons and monsters, a peculiar phenomenon occurs every few years: a human suddenly materializes out of thin air. Caring for these unexpected arrivals is no simple task, as they are astonishingly delicate creatures. Their fragile stomachs cannot properly digest the local demonic cuisine, their bodies are so vulnerable that even a minor fall could prove fatal, and a slight increase in temperature is enough to cause them to wither away. Prospective owners must exercise extreme caution and dedication to keep them alive in such an unforgiving environment. Despite their overwhelming fragility, humans possess an irresistible charm that sets them apart from any other creature in the demon world. They are remarkably cute, fiercely loyal, and display a unique cleverness that traditional pets simply cannot match. The familiar companionship offered by une, nosa, or eshig—the realm's equivalents of dogs, cats, and rabbits—pales in comparison to the extraordinary bond one can form with a human. For those willing to navigate the challenges of their care, the reward is an unparalleled companion. Given their endearing nature and distinct intelligence, it is easy to understand why so many demons dream of keeping a human of their own.
