Happy Ghost

After failing the imperial examinations for the tenth time, Scholar Chu dies of frustration, inadvertently driving his father to death and causing his wife to leave him. He eventually hangs himself in a remote temple while carrying a deep grievance, leaving his soul trapped and bound to the very rope he used. Fast forward to 1980s Hong Kong. Three high school girls—Bonnie, Sandy, and Imy—are caught in a sudden rainstorm during a summer holiday trip and seek shelter in the abandoned temple. As they leave, Sandy accidentally packs the haunted rope into her luggage, bringing the spirited scholar into their dormitory. What begins as a series of terrifying shocks soon transforms into an unlikely, heartwarming friendship. Through mutual encouragement and plenty of comedic misadventures, the girls and the ghostly scholar help one another find clarity and courage for the paths ahead.
