Tohru Honda's life is turned upside down after a family tragedy, forcing her to move out and live in a tent. She unwittingly sets up her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma family, who discover her presence and offer her shelter. However, the Sohmas hold a secret: they transform into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac when touched by members of the opposite sex. As Tohru takes refuge with the Sohmas, she learns more about their unique condition and forms a deep bond with the family, discovering the complexities and mysteries of the Sohma household.
