Akatsuki no Fumi

A collection of short stories. In the title piece, "Daybreak Letters" (Akatsuki no Fumi), the year is 2435, and Takatsuki Minori has built a machine that can retrieve historical figures from their own eras and bring them to the present. His son, Akira, stumbles upon the device after it inexplicably malfunctions and inadvertently summons the sixteenth-century samurai Mori Ranmaru. Other tales include "The Catharsis of Truth" (Shinjitsu no Catharsis), "Moero! Otousan," and "Spiral Memories" (Rasen no Kioku), in which Chihiro Hirosaki, consumed by depression after a devastating tragedy, longs for death—until a young demon appears, hoping to exploit his arrival in the human world and secure a life-stealing contract, raising the possibility that both may discover their true desires. The collection also features "Asa to Yoru no Tenohira ni," "Kimi ni Okuru," and the pilot "Hi no Matoi."
