The Familiar of Zero

Louise is a student mage at Tristein Academy, where she endures the mockery of her peers under the humiliating nickname "Zero Louise"—a testament to her utter lack of success with magic, as every spell she casts ends in failure. When the academy's upcoming examination requires her to summon a familiar, a bonded servant and partner meant to support her magical endeavors, she fervently hopes for a creature so magnificent that it will silence her classmates' taunts. To her dismay, however, the ritual summons Hiraga Saito, a completely ordinary Japanese boy with no magical abilities whatsoever. Neither Louise nor Saito is pleased with this outcome, yet they find themselves bound together by circumstance: Louise cannot perform another summoning, and Saito has no means of returning to his own world. With no other options, they are forced to tolerate each other and navigate their new, unwilling partnership—thus begins their chaotic shared life, based on the novel series by Noboru Yamaguchi.
