Raising a Dog

This collection comprises five short stories: Raising a Dog, And Then, Caring for a Cat, View of the Backyard, Three People’s Days, and Promised Land. The titular story chronicles the passing of an elderly dog, while the final tale shares thematic similarities with the author’s later work, Kamigami no Itadaki. In 1992, Raising a Dog was honored with a Special Award from the Examination Committee at the Shogakukan Manga Awards.
