Many treasures from the Age of Exploration eventually found their way into museums. In the world of *C.M.B.*, the British Museum once held a Wunderkammer filled with obscure scientific curiosities and artifacts gathered by explorers and adventurers. In the nineteenth century, the museum decided to study these dusty relics and appointed three researchers—known as the "Magi"—to carry out the investigation. Each was given a ring engraved with the letters C.M.B. Fast-forward to present-day Japan, where Sakaki Shinra serves as the curator of a museum of oddities. He now possesses the C.M.B. rings, signifying that he has inherited the role of guardian of knowledge, just like the Magi before him.
