Following her father’s death, Tabitha was stripped of her inheritance and expelled from her home by her stepmother, forcing her to earn a living as a live-in hotel maid. Her fortunes shift when an elderly guest she cared for gifts her a ticket to the hotel’s exclusive masquerade ball. Though she laments that her social debut should have occurred under happier circumstances, Tabitha cannot resist her lingering desire for high society and attends the gala in disguise. There, she encounters Giannis, the hotel manager, and spends the night with him, completely unaware that the true purpose of the masquerade was to find him a bride.
