House of the Sun

"Back then, that place felt like a house touched by magic—somewhere that could coax a smile out of you even through tears. I used to believe an invisible wizard must have made his home there... or so I once thought." When a young girl's mother abandons her father for another man, her world is already turned upside down. But soon, her father remarries a woman with a child of her own, further complicating the fragile family dynamic. Facing an uncertain and lonely future, she receives an unexpected lifeline when her childhood neighbor and friend invites her to come live with him. This poignant tale won the 38th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōjo category in 2014.
