Lady Masquerade

A fractured memory becomes a masquerade, where everyone wears a mask and indulges in the wildest acts without consequence. But life is no masquerade. The protagonist is a girl haunted daily by something she accidentally witnessed years ago. She is plagued by flashbacks of a gruesome scene: as a young child, she follows a black kitten that suddenly transforms into a panther. A woman welcomes the beast to join her and the rest of the panther pack. Unaware of the little girl’s presence, the group proceeds to have their version of “fun.” Horrified, the girl makes a sound and is discovered. “Hunt her down! Kill her!” the woman commands the panthers. The girl manages to escape, but her parents do not. In her flashbacks, they are chased and fall from a cliff—yet the authorities ruled it a car accident. Living on the edge between illusion and reality, she clings to doubt until she spots the woman’s photo in a magazine. That single image is all she needs to confirm the truth of her memories. Now, she is ready to settle the score.
