Hoichi Kano, grandson of the internationally acclaimed inventor Hosuke Kano, is a student at Howa High School in Musashino City. During the tenth anniversary of humanity's first contact with the Riofaldians, a ceremonial unveiling is scheduled for an Elevator Ship intended to facilitate orbital transport between Earth and the Riofaldian home world.
