Summary

Official Details
Set in post-war Japan during the early Showa era, this story follows Kusumoto Yoriko and Yuzuki Kanako, two students at an all-girls school who plan to take the last train to visit a lake. Tragedy strikes when Kanako is struck by the train before they can depart. Detective Kiba of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, who happens to be present at the scene, is asked to look after the distraught Yoriko. He accompanies her to the hospital where Kanako has been taken, and there he encounters a woman identifying herself as Kanako’s sister, Yuzuki Youko. To his surprise, she is none other than Minami Kinuko, the famous actress Kiba has long admired. This manga is an adaptation of Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s novel series, which includes Ubume no Natsu, Mouryou no Hako, Kyoukotsu no Yume, Jorougumo no Kotowari, and the side story Hyakki Tsurezure Bukuro.
