When Red proves unable to withstand the merciless fighting along the front lines of the war against the Demon Lord's army, he is cast out of the Hero's party. Burdened by shame over his own inadequacy, he retreats to a distant frontier region, hoping its anonymity will conceal both his face and his past. There, far from the battlefields that defeated him, he resolves to begin again. Though at first weighed down by the loss of his adventuring days, Red gradually finds renewed purpose in an entirely different calling: opening a modest apothecary. He envisions a calm, uneventful existence dispensing remedies in the countryside—a life of peace far removed from heroes and demons alike. That hard-won tranquility is abruptly disturbed when Rit, a princess and his former party member, arrives at his doorstep without warning. Her sudden visit transforms his serene new life into something far livelier, drawing the retired adventurer back into a world he believed he had left behind for good.
