Acting King's Comeback System in Tokyo: What Is Going On?

In the late Showa era of 1986, Sakamoto Yu has just transmigrated only to discover his system is misaligned by thirty years. The interface informs him that after struggling in the entertainment industry until age forty as a nameless extra with no real acting skills, he must reconnect with Shizuka Kudo, the woman who once sincerely helped him before he pushed her away. The reward for completing this task is mastery over portraying rebellious characters. Having been kicked off set after failing eight times as a background actor in just three months since arriving, Sakamoto stares at the quest panel and then at the sixteen-year-old Shizuka Kudo, lost in thought. He begins to suspect the system’s timeline is completely broken. Soon after, the system continues issuing new quests involving Asako Atsuko, Akina Nakamori, Noriko Sakai, and Rie Miyazawa—all women destined to become iconic Showa idols who would have extended a helping hand during his future years of destitution. Gazing at these youthful legends standing right before him, Sakamoto falls silent once more, increasingly convinced that this system is becoming far too inappropriate for its own good.
