Van, a lanky and apathetic swordsman, is driven by a singular purpose: to avenge his fiancé's murder by killing the elusive Claw Man, a villainous figure with a claw for an arm. During his journey, Van passes through the city of Evergreen, which is under siege by bandits seeking to plunder its treasury. There, he meets Wendy Garret, a timid young girl searching for her kidnapped brother. Although Van initially refuses to help the city, he eventually crosses paths with the bandits and, motivated by his own vendetta, defeats them with ease. In the process, he discovers that the bandits have ties to the Claw Man, who has kidnapped Wendy's brother for unknown reasons. With this new information, Van and Wendy reluctantly join forces to pursue the Claw Man, unaware that he is involved in a far more sinister plot than they could have ever imagined.
