Village Chief, Does Your Township Enterprise Sell Laser Cannons?

In the summer of 2026, Lin Man had just graduated from Wudaokou Vocational College, passed the prestigious provincial selection exam for civil servants, and finished his clean-governance training when unexpected news arrived: he was to graduate early from the training program, skip the standard probationary period, and return home to serve as the village chief. At the same time, he found himself bound to a "Science and Technology Village Revitalization System." The system was formidable, though its rewards were rather unorthodox. Upon receiving the initial mission to assume the role of village chief, the reward granted was a working prototype of a mobile laser defense system along with its complete manufacturing blueprints and technical specifications. Seeing what he had to work with, Lin Man made up his mind to lead his fellow villagers down the right path. "What's wrong with a ninety-year-old wanting to pilot an aerial carrier? Mobility scooters run on electricity, and aerial carriers run on electricity—isn't it just a supersized mobility scooter?" "What's wrong with children wanting to fly planes into the sky? Isn't giving them an early head start in life a good thing?" "If the kids want to see Mechagodzilla, what's wrong with granting their wish?" "Those living by the sea live off the sea—what's wrong with fish farmers building a submarine for aquaculture?" "The people need it, and the people are right there! What could possibly be wrong with making things for them?"
