Zerg: Why is the Overlord like that?

A ruthless, controlling, and sadistic male insect; a cold, sickly, and submissive female insect — that is the pairing the script demands, and Jian Chi is expected to play his part. Having transmigrated into a Zerg novel, he now fills the role of the control group, the foil meant to make the story's true male protagonist shine. A system offers him a way out: follow the original owner's storyline and complete one hundred scenarios, and he will be returned to his old world and resurrected. The assignments, however, are anything but gentle. The system orders him to tell his female ruler, "You filthy insect, sit on top," then commands him to torture and humiliate his queen. Jian Chi — an honest, law-abiding man for over twenty years — complies with flawless literalism. Every insult is murmured like an endearment; every act of "torment" and "degradation" is carried out with unmistakable tenderness. When the system protests that he curses the insect as though whispering sweet nothings, he replies evenly: "Just tell me whether I said it or not." Technically, every task is finished. Technically, it was torture; technically, it was humiliation. Yet the system cannot shake the feeling that something has gone profoundly wrong — a suspicion Jian Chi waves off with an easy line: "You're overthinking it, baby."
