Go-toubun no Hanayome

Fuutarou Uesugi is a high school student defined by two opposing traits: an exceptional academic record and a profound social detachment. Burdened by his family's financial struggles, he spends his days buried in textbooks, viewing human interaction as a needless distraction from his relentless pursuit of scholastic achievement. His carefully ordered existence is disrupted when he encounters Itsuki Nakano, a newly arrived transfer student from a wealthy background. The meeting is immediately contentious, a clash of pride and prejudice that leaves both parties frustrated. The tension takes an ironic turn when Fuutarou learns that he has been appointed as Itsuki's personal tutor. Forced by economic necessity, he swallows his resentment and attempts to build a working relationship with his recalcitrant pupil. But his task proves far more complicated than he anticipated; in his efforts to reach Itsuki, he inadvertently stumbles upon four other girls, each possessing a distinct personality and a unique set of academic hurdles. Fuutarou soon realizes that his job is not merely to educate one stubborn student, but to somehow guide all five of these divergent young women. As the socially inept scholar is thrust into their chaotic daily lives, he must balance his own financial desperation and ingrained solitude against the demands of a tutoring role that grows more complex by the day. What initially appeared to be a straightforward employment opportunity transforms into a grueling test of his patience, adaptability, and long-suppressed capacity for empathy—with his livelihood and the futures of five girls hanging precariously in the balance.
