BUNGO

In the quiet stillness of a town too small to field a youth baseball team, Bungo Ishihama’s world consisted of little more than a worn ball, a cracked concrete wall, and the relentless rhythm of his own throws. Day after solitary day, he pushed his young arm past exhaustion, nurturing a vision that no one else could see—a dream forged in isolation, with only the echoes of his pitches for company. That fragile, private world shatters when Yukio Noda, a prodigy already carrying the weight of Japan’s national youth squad, materializes out of nowhere. Their chance encounter erupts into an impromptu, unforgettable duel that leaves an indelible mark on both boys, planting the seeds of a rivalry that neither time nor distance can erode. Years later, that rivalry reignites with a vengeance when their paths converge once more at Seio Junior High, a baseball powerhouse renowned for churning out legends. Thrust into the same formidable lineup, Bungo and Noda find themselves not as allies, but as blazing counterpoints—one born of grit and hunger, the other of elite polish and expectation. Within the white lines of a middle school diamond, their collision transcends ordinary competition, unleashing a ferocious storm of pride, virtuoso talent, and unbridled passion. The games escalate to a ferocity that eclipses even the famed intensity of Koshien, every pitch and swing a declaration of war. In the crucible of Seio’s relentless pursuit of glory, the smoldering ember inside each boy is about to explode into a full-blown conflagration.
