All-Rounder Meguru

For most high school students, the biggest conflicts are settled with words or perhaps a fleeting scuffle in the schoolyard. But for Meguru Takayanagi, disputes are resolved with technique, discipline, and the unforgiving canvas of a Shooto mixed martial arts ring. As a young fighter still carving out his identity in the brutal world of professional combat, Meguru lives for the sharp crack of a clean strike and the chess match of grappling on the mat. His latest bout, however, is anything but routine. Stepping into the spotlight opposite him is a ghost from his past: Takashi Segawa, his dearest friend from grade school and a face he hasn't seen in seven long years. Theirs was once a bond forged in childhood innocence, but time and vastly different circumstances have corroded that connection. For Takashi, the reunion is not a cause for nostalgic smiles, but a bitter reckoning. The disparities in their respective upbringings have transformed an old ally into a resentful rival, and he steps into the ring with the cold, unyielding gaze of an enemy rather than a long-lost friend. There is no time for reminiscence, no handshake to mark their improbable return to one another's lives. As the referee signals the start, the tension is palpable—a suffocating blend of history and hostility that fills the air between them. The only language left for them to speak is the physical one of strikes, submissions, and survival, as their fierce and emotionally charged match begins in earnest.
