Shinobumonogatari

A chilling silence has descended upon Naoetsu High School, where female students are vanishing in unsettling succession. The peaceful rhythms of academic life shatter when the authorities begin uncovering the remains—mummified corpses, eerily preserved, each marked with a cryptic, distinctive symbol carved into the nape of the neck. As the grim pattern emerges and fear tightens its grip, the investigation stalls, plagued by a complete lack of motive or suspect, leaving only the grotesque calling card as a silent taunt. Now a first-year university student navigating the unfamiliar terrain of adulthood, Koyomi Araragi finds himself inexorably drawn back into the shadows he once knew too well. Though he has no personal connection to the victims, a restless sense of duty—and perhaps a lingering taste for the dramatic—compels him to take action. After all, there is something undeniably stylish about stepping into danger for the sake of a complete stranger. Armed with little more than his wits and his unique familiarity with the abnormal, Araragi plunges headlong into the investigation, determined to unravel the meaning behind the macabre marks before the next student disappears. The hunt for the perpetrator is on, and with it begins the next harrowing chapter of the Monster Season—a descent into a mystery where the dead may hold the only answers, and the living are not nearly safe enough.
