Innocent Rouge

Innocent Rouge opens in 1772, on the eve of the French Revolution. Charles-Henri, the eldest brother of the Sanson family, has matured into the role of executioner, carrying the weight of his hereditary profession. His sister, Marie-Joseph, lives far from that grim fate, enjoying a free existence in Versailles. Their lives occupy opposite ends of a society already trembling on the brink of upheaval. That fragile balance breaks when Marie-Joseph's first love, Alain, is killed by aristocrats. The crime turns private grief into a larger confrontation with the privileged world around her, and the history of innocents is pulled into the crimson tide of revolution. Innocent Rouge follows this turning point as the Sanson siblings are drawn into the Rouge arc, a chapter of history steeped in blood, loss, and the revolution to come.
