Literary Giant 1978: From Military Writer to World Fame

Liu Jimin is reborn in 1978, finding himself a company medical orderly in the People's Liberation Army. After a heroic rescue that earns him a commendation, he is recommended for university and becomes a worker-peasant-soldier student at a medical school. There is just one problem: he knows nothing about medicine. Fortunately, it is an era when literature is taking flight. Inspired by Lu Xun, he decides to abandon medicine for writing—reasoning that bandaging hands can only heal bodies, but a pen can defend against ideological tides. Thus emerges one of China's most celebrated military writers of the 1980s. His journey begins in the barracks but soon transcends them, gaining recognition at home and acclaim abroad. This is a nostalgic voyage through a transformative decade, and a chronicle of a brilliant life shaped by words.
