Kai no Tora: Takeda Shingen

In the province of Kai, young Harunobu—the boy who would grow into the legendary Takeda Shingen—suffers rejection at the hands of his own father, the clan lord Nobutora. When Harunobu dares to counsel his father to relinquish the reins of the family, the gesture earns him not respect but cold estrangement, and the young heir finds himself shut out within his own household. Yet Harunobu is not alone in his frustration. His father's arbitrary and reckless rule has long bred bitter resentment among the retainers, and these vassals, weary of Nobutora's misrule, begin to gather around the estranged son. Urged on by men determined to see their lord displaced, Harunobu is swept up in their designs and at last rises in open revolt against his own father. But a rebellion, once set in motion, gathers a momentum all its own—and what unfolds in its wake is something none of them could have foreseen.
