In 2010, in the proud northern land of Hokkaido, Rou Shirakawa delivers the highest-scoring performance in the history of the All-Japan Junior Figure Skating Championships. But at the peak of his triumph, something snaps—Rou loses control entirely and tears the stage apart. His rampage earns him immediate disqualification and a lifetime ban from the figure skating world, and the press brands him the "Rabid Prince." Cast out of the sport that defined him, Rou finds himself in Tamakomai, a hockey-mad town in northern Japan. There, on a rink carved into a frozen lake, he crosses paths with the ruthless Genma brothers. Through them, he learns of Oino-kami High School and its relentless quest for an unprecedented twentieth consecutive national hockey championship—and comes face to face with ice hockey itself, a battle sport as fierce as it is beautiful. If Rou is destined to run wild on the ice, perhaps the hockey rink is exactly where he belongs.
