Mattaku Saikin no Tantei to Kitara

Nagumo Keiichirou operates a small, unassuming detective agency that feels like a relic from a bygone era. Armed with a trench coat, a sharp eye for detail, and a steadfast commitment to traditional investigative techniques, he shuns the digital shortcuts and data-driven approaches that define modern crime-solving. His practice is a quiet, solitary affair—a cluttered office filled with filing cabinets and the faint smell of cigarette smoke, where he patiently pieces together clues through legwork and intuition. While the world around him races forward, Nagumo remains stubbornly anchored in the past, content to ply his trade exactly as he has for decades. That quiet routine is shattered one ordinary afternoon when the door to his agency swings open to reveal a high school girl. She stands before him with an air of unexpected determination, her youthful presence an anomaly in his dusty office, and declares without hesitation that she wishes to become his partner. Nagumo is taken aback—not only by her audacity but by the sheer incongruity of her request. What could a teenager possibly want with a grizzled, old-fashioned detective? Yet her resolve is unmistakable, and her sudden intrusion forces the seasoned investigator to confront the prospect of an alliance he never sought. As she settles into the periphery of his world, the unlikely pair must navigate the vast generation gap between them, testing whether Nagumo's time-honored methods can coexist with the fresh perspective—and hidden motivations—that his new companion brings to the table.
