In a dystopian future, the Earth's resources have dwindled, and humanity's progress has stalled. The world is divided into "Units", where time is strictly governed, and electricity is shut off at midnight. Hajiki Sanada, a young boy, lives in Unit 74, Night Town, with his mother and sister. His life takes an extraordinary turn when he accidentally comes into contact with a GAD, a mysterious object that can reconstruct materials in response to human emotions. This encounter transforms Hajiki into a giant robot, a Tekkoudo, which he names Lightning. As Hajiki navigates his new existence, he discovers others like himself, and must find a way to cope with these similarities.
