Set three centuries after the events of Utakata ni Warau and three hundred years before those of Donten ni Warau, this story unfolds during Japan's turbulent Sengoku period—an age in which the nation is fractured by ceaseless civil war, and the ambitions of warring factions shape the fates of everyone caught in the tide of history. At the heart of the tale stands Ishida Sakichi, a young man pursuing a mission of his own amid the surrounding turmoil. As he journeys through a land steeped in conflict and uncertainty, his path eventually brings him to the Kumo Shrine, a secluded sanctuary that seems to stand apart from the chaos consuming the country beyond its grounds.
