"If There's No Bread, You Might as Well Eat Me" is a short story collection devoted to desire at its most raw and consuming—a place where hunger and affection blur until the two become nearly impossible to tell apart. The title tale imagines a longing so intense that being devoured seems the most fitting expression of devotion, an appetite for connection that brushes against the surreal. "The Way the Teacher Loves" shifts focus to a teacher's private affections, tracing how feelings that ought to remain unspoken take on a life of their own. In "Senpai Fetish," admiration for an upperclassman deepens into fixation, showing how fascination can quietly shade into something far more possessive. The volume closes with "Kiss Party," a story steeped in intimacy and the charged instant when the distance between two people finally vanishes. Bound together by themes of craving, yearning, and love that refuses to stay politely contained, these tales portray romance in its hungriest, most unguarded forms—where wanting someone can feel every bit as vital as food itself.
