Summary

Official Details

Ken Kaneki, a shy and unassuming young man, can hardly believe his luck when the beautiful Rize agrees to go on a date with him. What begins as a seemingly perfect evening soon curdles into horror: Rize harbors no romantic interest at all—her desire is for his flesh, and she views him as nothing more than her next meal. Salvation arrives through a rescue steeped in moral ambiguity, sparing Kaneki's life at an unthinkable price. He emerges from the ordeal as the first of his kind—a half-human, half-Ghoul hybrid—stranded between the ordinary world he once inhabited and the predatory one lurking within its shadows. Pulled into the dark and violent underworld of the Ghouls, beings who live unseen alongside human society, Kaneki must navigate a perilous new existence defined by hunger, bloodshed, and a desperate fight to preserve what remains of his humanity.
