Akane-banashi

Rakugo is the pinnacle of narrative performance, a deceptively simple art form in which a lone storyteller conjures entire worlds using nothing more than voice and gesture. For Shinta and his young daughter Akane, this centuries-old tradition is an irresistible force—a craft that has shaped their lives and defined their deepest passions. While Shinta has devoted himself to mastering the rigorous path toward the shin'uchi, the highest rank a rakugo performer can achieve, his journey is one of relentless dedication and sacrifice. Watching her father pour his soul into each practice session, Akane absorbs not just the techniques of the art, but the profound love and resilience it demands. His grueling pursuit of the shin'uchi title becomes her window into the heart of rakugo itself—a world of discipline, rivalry, and unspoken emotion. As she comes of age, Akane feels the pull of the stage growing too strong to ignore, and she makes a choice that will set her on her own path. Now, she must navigate a realm where tradition battles innovation, and where the weight of her father's legacy presses against the fire of her own ambition, determined to make her voice heard through the timeless power of story.
