The Paladin of the DC World

While battling an avatar of Tiamat, the Dragon Queen, Li Ming is caught in a temporal rift and thrown into the DC Universe. Arriving in the chaos of Gotham City, he cannot stand idle. As a paladin, he takes up his oaths once more and strikes back against evil and lawlessness. Invoking the New Jersey Penal Code and Gotham City criminal law, he argues that even mental illness cannot reduce the culpability of terrorists whose crimes are too numerous to count. On behalf of all citizens harmed by the defendants, he demands the courts impose the ultimate penalty—death. This is his Oath of Order: the paladin must walk alongside the law, for order endures. When the bereaved cry out, asking why the guilty still live and begging him for vengeance, Li Ming sheds his white suit, dons his armor, and lets the fire of retribution burn in his eyes. “Your pleas are heard,” he answers. This is his Oath of Vengeance: when the law fails to punish the wicked, the paladin must shoulder the fate of the victims and destroy evil, for unjust law is no law at all. And when a dark god unleashes a world-ending tide, Li Ming stands on the front line without flinching. Blood pours from his wounds, but it becomes the bulwark against the encroaching darkness. This is his Oath of Sacrifice: no matter how immense the evil, he must stand firm even at the cost of his life, for goodness is eternal.
