The Priest and the Godfather

Hong Lei is a priest of the God-Worshipping Church in New York's Chinatown. By day, he tends to his parish; by night, he acts as a godfather, maintaining order in the neighborhood through his own unorthodox methods. His quiet routine is disrupted when his nephew arrives in the city on a government-sponsored study program. The young man is baffled by his uncle's claims: "You're saying Jesus was Chinese and had a younger brother named Hong Xiuquan? And you—as Hong Xiuquan's priest—are spreading this faith in America? Does the Pope even agree to that?" Hong Lei replies coolly, "Agree? You've got it backward. I'm the one who agrees to his existence." He adds, "And you, my friend, have traveled all the way from across the ocean, yet you won't even call me GodFather." His nephew retorts, "Uncle, Mom says if you keep acting crazy, she'll fly over and slap you herself." Hong Lei grins and says, "Just kidding. Welcome to New York!" Then—*ding*—the awakens, charging him with the mission of reviving the God-Worshipping Church.
