Aozora to Kumorizora

The power is not flashy—it is a quiet, invasive force that seizes the nervous system, overriding conscious will with a flicker of intent. For the one who wields it, death is a mere transaction, a stroke of mental command that sends strangers stepping off ledges or into traffic, their final moments inscribed with borrowed despair. They operate from the shadows, leaving no fingerprints, no motives, nothing but a string of neatly closed cases and grieving families. The work is clinical, repetitive, and utterly devoid of consequence—until the day a new name appears on their list. What begins as another routine assignment quickly reveals itself as an anomaly, shattering the detached rhythm that has defined their existence. This target is different. Where others crumple into compliance, this individual exhibits an eerie composure, a subtle recalcitrance that unsettles the puppeteer's absolute authority. Perhaps they sense the intrusion, or their psyche is fortified by something the wielder cannot perceive; regardless, the command fails to land as intended. The routine execution spirals into an unexpected confrontation, forcing the puppeteer to recognize that not every mind is a passive battlefield. For the first time, the manipulator must contend with a variable they cannot compute—a target who not only survives but threatens to unravel the very foundation of their hidden war.
