Sung Ho has never been the type to trade city grit for rural peace, yet here he is—late twenties, ex-military, and suddenly a single father to a one-year-old daughter his ex-girlfriend left in his care. With no job and few options beyond a modest house inherited or acquired in the countryside, he pins his hopes on the quiet obscurity of Nuldongmae Village. It seems like the perfect place to start over, away from the noise and judgment of his former life. Local gossip, however, warns that the village chief—despite being surprisingly young—has a reputation for being insufferably difficult. Sung Ho convinces himself that their paths will never cross. That illusion shatters on moving day. A tall, strikingly handsome man with a short fuse corners him, leveling an accusation of theft from the village store. This infuriating newcomer clearly knows the ins and outs of Nuldongmae better than anyone, and his abrasive demeanor immediately sets Sung Ho on edge. Yet beneath the daily friction lies an undeniable truth: the village chief is inescapably woven into the fabric of this new life Sung Ho is trying to build. A loner by nature, Sung Ho has always kept people at arm's length, relying on no one but himself. But as he navigates the exhausting realities of parenthood and rural survival, he begins to wonder if the sunny days ahead might require him to lower his guard and let someone else in.
