Shimazaki in the Land of Peace

A childhood scarred by terrorism and a subsequent life conscripted into the revolutionary army of the League for Economic Liberations have left Shingo Shimazaki a stranger to peace. Thirty years after being ripped from his homeland, the former soldier finally sets foot in Japan again, but the country he returns to is both familiar and utterly foreign. His speech is stilted, his manners awkward, and the simplest civilian chores—buying groceries, navigating public transit—become bewildering trials. Yet beneath that clumsy exterior lies the lethal precision of a special forces operative, his body and mind honed by decades of guerrilla warfare and covert surveillance. Now, as he struggles to shed his militant past and piece together a quiet existence, Shimazaki finds himself caught between two opposing forces. On one side are the compassionate locals who see a damaged soul in need of gentle guidance, offering him a lifeline to normality. On the other are shadowy adversaries who view his return as a threat, prepared to resort to any means necessary to silence him. In a nation that has long since moved on from the conflicts that defined him, Shimazaki must navigate a fragile new reality where the greatest battle is not against an external enemy, but against the ghosts of his own history and the relentless pursuit of those who refuse to let him forget it.
