Strategic Advisor: Conquering K-Entertainment

In 2014, Lin Xun leaves Temasek Holdings and joins Kasim Capital, an overseas investment entity under the Alibaba umbrella, stepping into the controversy-ridden S.M. Entertainment as a strategic advisor. Facing the first signs of discord in Girls' Generation's "September 30th incident," he firmly asserts that the group's nine-member completeness holds greater value than an eight-member lineup. Turning to T-ara, a group left crippled by the "Mega Troll" scandal and severely written off by outsiders, he sees past the public condemnation. Then comes BTS—dismissed by everyone as a failing project from a minor label—yet Lin Xun uncovers their global commercial potential hidden within the trajectory of their overseas fan growth. Starting with a mere 4% stake in S.M. Entertainment, he makes his initial mark on the capital stage of the Korean entertainment industry. Quietly and methodically, he sweeps the cards off the table, one by one, until the day Koreans finally realize that their entire entertainment industry has been built upon someone else's business ecosystem model.
