Tamagawa, Is That You?

For Shikishima, the manager of a modest convenience store, life lost its luster the moment Yuri Miyama—the reigning queen of the adult film industry—hung up her microphone for good. As a devoted superfan who found solace in her performances, her abrupt retirement plunges him into a pit of existential gloom, turning his daily grind into a colorless routine. But just as he resigns himself to a future without his muse, a quiet miracle walks through his automatic doors: a job applicant named Tamagawa, bearing a face so uncannily identical to Yuri's that it steals the very breath from his lungs. Yet for all his burning curiosity, Shikishima knows that directly asking a potential employee if she moonlights as a retired porn star is a social minefield he cannot risk. Fueled by obsession and desperation, he enlists the help of his fellow perverted co-worker, and together the pair transform the mundane convenience store into a theater of the absurd. From elaborate conversational traps to outlandish schemes designed to elicit a telltale reaction, their amateur detective work grows increasingly ridiculous with each failed attempt. As their wild conjectures spiral out of control and the line between fantasy and reality blurs, one question haunts the aisles of the quiet shop: is Tamagawa simply a remarkably ordinary woman with an extraordinary doppelgänger, or is Shikishima's idol living a secret second life right under his nose? The answer promises to upend everything he thinks he knows about fame, fandom, and the faces we hide behind.
