Otaku mo Koi mo Rensa Suru

For Otonari Wataru, high school is a daily front-row seat to the most heartwarming romance he could ever imagine. Sitting beside him is the impossibly cute Kakoi Yuzuru, whose gentle smiles and earnest nature make her the subject of many a secret admiration. Yet, her heart is already spoken for—by the strikingly handsome and equally kind Kawai Chihiro, a boyfriend so perfect he seems to have stepped right out of a shoujo manga. But rather than feeling pangs of jealousy, Wataru has found his own unique bliss: he is their most devoted, ecstatic shipper, deriving more joy from watching their relationship flourish than from pursuing one of his own. From stolen glances and blushing lunch breaks to the subtle, tender gestures that pass between the two lovebirds, Wataru observes it all with the fervor of a critic reviewing his favorite series. His school life transforms into a continuous, heart-fluttering festival of vicarious romance, where every shared umbrella or accidental hand brush sends him into a frenzy of inner celebration. However, living as a perpetual bystander to someone else’s fairy tale comes with its own complexities, and as Wataru cheerfully navigates the chaos of student life, he soon discovers that being a spectator might not shield him from the unexpected twists and turns of his own heart. In this comedy of distance and desire, the line between watching a love story and becoming part of one begins to blur, challenging him to step out of the audience and into the unpredictable spotlight of genuine connection.
