Keiji's Kabuki Adventure

A year has passed since the decisive clash at Sekigahara reshaped the destiny of Japan, and the nascent Tokugawa Shogunate now holds the realm in an iron grip of unprecedented tranquility. Across the Land of the Rising Sun, the clamor of battle has faded into a distant memory, replaced by the quiet rhythms of reconstruction and order. Yet for one man, this hard-won peace is not a blessing but a curse. The flamboyant and unapologetically arrogant Maeda Keiji, a warrior whose very soul thrums with the chaos of combat, finds himself suffocating in an era that no longer has use for his brand of reckless heroism. With no enemy encampments to charge and no warlords to challenge, Keiji drifts through the shogunate's serene landscape like a brilliantly colored storm cloud on a windless day. His days are void of the adrenaline and glory that once defined him, and the quietude that satisfies the masses only deepens his restless ennui. But a spirit like Keiji's cannot remain stagnant for long. As he chafes against the bonds of peacetime, his insatiable hunger for excitement threatens to upend the very order the shogunate has fought so hard to establish. In a world that has traded its swords for scrolls, the most dangerous force may not be an invading army—but a single samurai who has forgotten how to be bored.
